The Basics – The very fundamentals of MLM
Would you agree that getting traffic is useless unless you understanding marketing and sales?
No? Or maybe you’ve never thought about it quite that way? Don’t feel bad, most people have very little knowledge that sales and marketing are crucial and if you are like me, you thought all the skills you had to master was how to make a lot of friends. Network, make friends, introduce your opportunity after you have this true friendship built. I was totally ignorant of what I needed to do. It is impossible to build up any type of long term, trusting relationship with thousands of people on a social networking site. You may be lucky if you have 5 that you have a true dialogue with at any given time.
Our whole industry has a tendency to focus on networking instead of the marketing portion of network marketing. Or if they do attempt to market, they skip the progression of a sales funnel. That was me. I swear they must have been watching what I was doing and making it a classic case of what not to do.
I had no idea how to write professional emails that would take people down a sales funnel to pop out at the end as fully qualified, eager to sign up prospects. I didn’t have the time or where-with-all to go out and learn it. I kept busy making friends, leaving positive although unproductive comments on posts, writing blog entries, busy work which was getting me nowhere but that’s what I had been trained to do. No real capture pages, no sales funnel, no knowledge of affiliate marketing or how to effectively use them. Nothing. Just get out there and make friends. Network. That was me !
Dave Kotecki was a guy who inspired me with his drive and passion. Working more than full time hours, in
Afganistan, and still cranking out good, solid, value driven advice and articles. I shared with him my need for a system that worked and being the guy he is, suggested I check out the top system available: MLSP.
Within hours, I knew Dave was right. The step by step instructions got me up and running with the option of personalized capture pages, welcome pages, sales pages, all within a day. Got through all the setting up videos and launched me and my new capture pages out into cyberspace. Next step was onto the training to market in a whole variety of different venues. Again the training blew me away. Tips and techniques and strategies I had never heard of before. That was when I quit. Quit listening to the training calls. I had in place a couple of different marketing methods, the professional autoresponder emails were written for me, I had personalized my capture pages for those methods and I was going to coast along merrily making a ton of money.
A comment on Betternetworker.com by Richard Bravo drove me back to my system. His comment was along the lines of: If you have a system that you are using – know it, learn it and use it.
I wasn’t doing that.
I discovered a whole archived section of training calls. Massive amounts of the highest quality of training anyone could ever get their hands on.
In the Basics: The Fundamentals of Network Marketing, Norbert Orlewicz urged the listener (me) to pick through and learn ¼ (one quarter) of the training that was available and “You will know more than 90 – 95% of what other network marketers know with just ¼ of this training.”
Sounded good to me and what I decided to do is share that training with you, step by step just as I learned it. Starting with The Basics – The fundamentals of network marketing.

Hi Joyce,
As a fellow MLSP marketing professional, I understand how we move so fast forward and then we need to step back to basics. Without a good basic fundamental SYSTEM in place we can be spinning our wheels for a good long time with social media and our expectations of simply making more connections. Making friends is only one part of the equation in a complete marketing system such as MLSP provides. And MLSP provides all the pieces and all the training needed for success.
You're right Joyce… It's not the Networking bit we have trouble with … it's the Marketing bit!!
Hi Joyce,
I love what you're doing with your blog!
Sounds like a fantastic series you have in store for us. I am a big proponent of creating a sales funnel, as well — one that targets a specific group of people based on your history and who you are as a person.
Hey Joyce,
It was a great pleasure connecting with you on the call the other day. Wow this Better Networker sounds like a great resource. I am gonna sign up right now. You are full of bonuses! LOL!

Great post Joyce,
I couldn't agree with you more. A lot of us forget the marketing aspect and concentrate more on networking with others. It's great to have plenty of friends and acquaintences, but without using marketing it will be a lot harder to build your business.
You are right Joyce. The little things do make a big difference. Most of us have access to plenty of great information, but we don’t take the time to apply it. We’re always looking for the next great thing. I’ve been guilty of this myself.
Thanks for sharing this article. I loved it.
