Mastermind Your Way To Success
No, I don’t mean getting together with a group of your friends who are going to pat you on the back regardless of what you are doing.
Jack Canfield in his book “The Success Principles” describes it as a process for accelerating your growth. I quote “Some of the most valuable feedback I have ever received has come from members of my mastermind group confronting me about overcommitting, selling my services too cheaply, focusing on the trivial, not delegating enough, thinking too small, and playing it safe.”
Mastermind groups focus on the truth with the end goal of each helping the other become better people, better business owners, better marketers, more successful ! Telling it like it is, focusing on where you are underutilizing your strengths, or where your thinking is off target takes a fellow mastermind member to bring it to the light. An outsiders point of view is usually more accurate that what you are seeing or feeling.
Napolean Hill, Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie all had and utilized mastermind groups. All focused on expanding and growing towards a goal or a series of goals. Henry Ford, for example, probably would have walked away from a group or a member of the group who offered platitudes or empty compliments. That wasn’t the point. That didn’t provide what the group was there for.
Search out and find a group. Search out and find those who know more than you. Search out and find those who have different strengths, different talents than you, so you can hone your skills. Diamonds need to rub up against other diamonds to allow their brilliance to come out. And is that a gentle process? Not always.
It’s your choice but if you desire to grow, if you desire connecting with others, if you want to work together towards success, connect with me. Bring your strengths to the table.
But don’t expect compliments unless they are earned. Don’t expect someone to hold your hand. That’s not what a mastermind group does.
It’s sure not what mine does. But I can fill you in about that.
Onwards to success,

Joyce,
You've done an excellent job of describing what a mastermind group is and what a mastermind group is not.
The wonderful thing about masterminding is that there is no end to the creativity… it makes me strive for more and reach for a better me.
I've been a proponent of mastermind groups way back when I was a sales trainer for an insurance company and started reading Think & Grow Rich. A mastermind group is exactly what you describe. It is for the purpose of making each member better. It is very important to know that the primary reason for masterminding is not to simply enhance a member because they are a member but to enhance them for their contributions.
Joyce, you truly expressed the essence of a mastermind group! Well written. Keep it up Sis!
This is the one thing that learned going to trainings and listening to training calls. You have to seek out those that know more than you so that you can get to their level. Thanks for sharing this post!!

Sherman. I just got back from the “No Excuses” Summit in Vegas and talk about seeking out those that know more. The event was fantastic with all the speakers open, gracious, willing to help and spend time with anyone who was there. One of those events every weekend would be fantastic.
