Focusing on the end makes decisions easy

Darn, there it is again.  No wait.  It’s not the same thing.  It’s different.  I better go and check it out.

And there I went.

Sometime just for an hour.  Sometimes weeks which stretched into months and before I knew it a year had gone by.

Yes, that was me.  I admit it.  Off here and there and it’s tough when you are working at home.  Self disciplined.  Self organized.  Or so I said.

Tom Bradley: Married into MLM

“I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know how it worked.  I married into MLM.  My wife had a nice little business going in the Hispanic community and I saw the money she was making.”  – Tom Bradley.

Tom had owned his own print shop and transferred all that skill and knowledge he’d acquired over to working in the merchant paper business as a sales representative.  “It was perfect.  For 25 years the company allowed me to be an entrepreneur within the structure of a commissioned sales person.”

The transition, once he understood what MLM was, became easy.  It was relational sales that created the success he had and is having.  “Nothing happens in this world without a sale being made,” Tom says. Read the rest of this entry

Here were these ducks, walking across my lawn.  They caught my attention because it was raining and raining hard.  Sheets of rain.  I thought to myself “Only ducks would enjoy going for a stroll in weather like this”.  But as I continued to watch them I realized there was a mother duck and 3 babies.  Each following the one in front.  In a straight line.  There wasn’t an obstacle in sight and yet if mom zigged, the babies zigged, if mom zagged the babies zagged.  Photobucket I slide open the patio door (why? don’t know.  For some reason I felt closer to them I guess) and the mom, hearing the sound, stopped dead in her tracks (as did the babies) and she watched me.  Intensely.

Why me? Why not some guru?

I was honoured to have my blog critiqued by Jason Better and published in Mike Dillard and co. What’s Working Now magazine.  Jason very kindly pointed out all the areas I was going wrong with my blog and suggested tips and strategies to make my blog more user friendly, more appealing to readers and all around better.  I posted Jason’s suggestions and then was asked “Why are you doing that?  Don’t you think people are going to seek out Jason and then you will lose out on some potential partners?” Read the rest of this entry

“I don’t like myself”

He just turned 5.  “Why don’t you like yourself, sweetie?”  His answer?  “Cuz I’m bad.”

My thoughts are churning madly as I attempt to explain to him there’s a difference between being a bad person and doing bad things.  I failed.  I could see my words had no effect on him.  He went to sleep still believing he was bad.

Almost two weeks later, reading Jack Canfield, I realized I may have a solution.  Read the rest of this entry

Strange question and I wondered at the sanity of the network marketing cohort who suggested I watch “Julie & Julia”.  A movie about Julia Child, her cookbook and Julie, who 40 years later decides to cook every recipe in the book.

The parallels were astounding !

Julie, a young woman with a loving, supportive husband (most of the time), a full time job (which she dislikes) and a crazy, insane idea (according to her mother) to cook and blog about her experiences.

Her goal was to cook the 524 recipes from Julia Child’s cook book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” over the next 365 days and blog about it each and every day.  It sounded impossible and her biggest detractor was her mom who couldn’t help but remind her that she never finished anything she started. Million $ advice from Jason Better

I WON !  My blog was chosen to be critiqued and WWN published the results.

Here’s what I learned in a nutshell from Jason Better as he scrolled around my blog (what will be my nerve centre).

#1 Tip:  The header on my blog should be considered or looked at as “Boardwalk”.  The most valuable piece of real estate on my blog.  I had chosen a casual, pretty theme with a coffee cup, keyboard and mouse hoping to convey the idea of “working from home” and all the benefits of same.  Wrong choice !  I’ve since changed it (forgot to take a screen shot of it before I did) and I still want to incorporate Jason’s idea of customizing and personalizing my header.

Finally – step by step training !

I did it !!

For some of you, this post might be hilarious but rest assured, for me, the biggest technical challenged person you will ever meet, it was big !!

I needed a step by step system that would walk me through and teach me every little thing I needed to do to market online. I also needed to see the big picture. How what I was doing here would affect that and vice versa. I wanted training on the big things: blogging, social sites, classifieds, videos with SEO, keyword research all thrown in for the same price.

I found it. I started Read the rest of this entry

If you are like me

If you’re like me, you’re a hard worker.  You would do the activities if you just knew which ones to focus on to get the job done.  That job, of course, is success in your network marketing career.

If you’re like me, you struggled, maybe for years.  Frustrated that all the answers to all your questions weren’t Read the rest of this entry
