She took all day to clean her room. She’d forgotten the ultimate goal: She’d lost her focus. She always started off great but got lost very quickly, very easily, got overwhelmed by the sheer overwhelmedness of the task.
She was in tears. She needed my help. Not to do the actual physical work although that would have overjoyed her, but to guide her. Read the rest of this entry

I’m usually a morning person. I love getting up and watching the sun rise, listening to the stillness of dawn, enjoying the sound of the birds as first one then two then a whole chorus wakes up and greets the morning.
There’s peace in the early hours. The kids are still sleeping, the phone isn’t ringing. You don’t have to get going for awhile yet. You can drink in the quietness.
So here I sit, at my computer, at the end of a busy, hectic day. Interruptions, emergencies in the wee hours, scheduled errands done and taken care of. My body longs for the comfort of my bed. To just lie down and drift off to sleep.
And I almost set my blog aside. It was on my list today. The one thing that isn’t stroked off. I argued with myself. I’m tired. I deserve to go to bed. I got a lot done today. Tomorrow is another busy day. I need my sleep. The list went on and on. Read the rest of this entry

I did the marketing, they did the selling
I knew a lot about what they offered. They knew virtually nothing about what I offered. Both of us were focused on the results. The same results. Their success was my success.
For almost 28 years, my speciality was solving problems. My title was Sales Manager but that wasn’t reflective of what I really did. It should have been “Listening Consultant” or “Marketing Advisor” or some other title.

Is this you? How do you feel? Good? Frustrated? Happy? Unhappy? Empowered?
She worked hard. Every day she spent hours reaching out, helping people, sharing her knowledge. There were times she experienced satisfaction, most times it was just plain frustrating. She had to make some sales. She had to introduce others to her primary business. She knew recruiting and moving product was her only chance to achieve her dreams. But how?
She believed, as many others did, that going after what she wanted was selfish. She felt that securing her own financial success and happiness would mean she would be depriving somebody else of their money or time or both ! Read the rest of this entry

That feeling, that tiny little niggling feeling settles in the gut first. It’s not something that’s easy to define. There aren’t adequate words to describe what’s happening but you know it. You know it’s there.
It’s an alarm. One that most of us ignore. At first. Our heads dismiss it because everything else is awesome. The sun is shining, not a cloud in the sky, everything is perfect.
Except for that little niggling feeling deep in the gut. Read the rest of this entry

Attraction Marketing is awesome, right? The principles are amazing. I write or share my expertise and people will be attracted to my style of writing, the wisdom I impart, the training I provide. The attraction just happens as they get to know and like me. I write or share freely about myself, my journey, my struggles, my successes, what I’ve learned etc., I do an effective job of marketing myself and the more people who read or watch me, the more will sign up and join me.
Right? Did I miss anything crucial in that brief description? Read the rest of this entry

What an amazing and wonderful day to be alive ! I hope you feel the same way although I completely understand if you’ve got some frustration lurking in the background. I think we all did and do. I know I was totally frustrated with everything I had to learn and implement and master so I could teach and training and be this amazing leader.

One of the absolutely cool things I like about being online is the amount of really good people you meet or run across. One such person was Lindsay Short. Our paths had casually crossed a couple of times but one post on Betternetworker was, in my opinion, so well done it deserved a second reading.
Lindsay wondered what the real problem with MLM was. It couldn’t be, well wait, you need to read this in his words. Read the rest of this entry

You know, the one who keeps doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?
The template is in place already. Has been for years and we’ve missed the tiny little piece, the piece that is going to put the whole puzzle together for us, in business, online. Read the rest of this entry

I had trouble reading it. It was backwards, written in uneven letters as only an 8 year old can do when she’s writing big letters with a marker on a glass door. She was excited and proud of herself. I could see her vibrating with her excitement.
I stopped the tractor, shifted into neutral and throttled down. The bucket of snow could wait as I acknowledged her and attempted to decipher the written message she had for me. Read the rest of this entry
