This interview is based on a response Richard Bravo made on Betternetworker.com to a forum post entitled: Is $350K a month too much too expect?”
The response required, in my mind, additional clarification to really get it straight in my head how and what I need to do to accomplish his suggestions. I saw in his words the pure gold of growth.

Long weekend Monday. Thunderstorms with the typical lightening bolts flashing consistently kept my two infants inside with no television, movies or computer. Out come the games, the playdoe and lots of crafts.
The 5 year old is still struggling with what the professionals call “fine motor skills”. Scissors are held upside down, sideways and occasionally the right way. The paper rips in places it’s not supposed to rip, gets cut in places that shouldn’t be cut and generally doesn’t end up with a satisfactory result. Read the rest of this entry

You know how it is when someone says something, or comments on a post you’ve made or offers you ways to improve? And it just makes your day. It builds your confidence. It reinforces the knowledge that the path you are on is the right one.
Warren Veach did that for me. I asked a simple question on Betternetworker the other day: “Is $350K too much to
expect?” Warren answered my question, “Taking constructive criticism, learning from it and actually following up on it is essential to continued growth….. Not only did you learn from the critique, but you acted upon it!” Read the rest of this entry

I was honoured to have my blog critiqued by Jason Better and published in Mike Dillard and co. What’s Working Now magazine. Jason very kindly pointed out all the areas I was going wrong with my blog and suggested tips and strategies to make my blog more user friendly, more appealing to readers and all around better. I posted Jason’s suggestions and then was asked “Why are you doing that? Don’t you think people are going to seek out Jason and then you will lose out on some potential partners?” Read the rest of this entry

I pushed it. Took it right to the edge and of course had to deal with the consequences. Ten days of rain on top of the significant snow melt left a few large massive puddles in the low lying areas of my acreage.
With less than half of the lawn mowed, my 16 HP Simplicity lawn tractor was stuck, really stuck. Under the water: slippery grass/mud combination. No amount of rocking or material wedged under the tires would give me the traction I needed to manoeuvre out of the muck and onto solid ground. The transmission disengages easily however I lacked the physical strength to push it out by hand. Nothing big enough in the vicinity to use a winch (although I didn’t have one to use). I was stuck, covered in mud and on the verge of frustration.
Time for a break. Time to sit down and figure this out. Get my brain in gear. There had to be a solution. This was simply a challenge waiting to be figured out. Read the rest of this entry

New to the internet it became very clear very quickly that I needed my own Domain name(s), hosted somewhere and my blog should be on a site that I owned, not one monitored and under the control of someone else.
I will go into more detail about wordpress.org, .com, blogger.com etc. in another article but for today’s topic let’s stick to purchasing your domain name. Why you need one and where to purchase it.
I chose GoDaddy for a couple of very simple reasons. Read the rest of this entry

He just turned 5. “Why don’t you like yourself, sweetie?” His answer? “Cuz I’m bad.”
My thoughts are churning madly as I attempt to explain to him there’s a difference between being a bad person and doing bad things. I failed. I could see my words had no effect on him. He went to sleep still believing he was bad.
Almost two weeks later, reading Jack Canfield, I realized I may have a solution. Read the rest of this entry

Strange question and I wondered at the sanity of the network marketing cohort who suggested I watch “Julie & Julia”. A movie about Julia Child, her cookbook and Julie, who 40 years later decides to cook every recipe in the book.
The parallels were astounding !
Julie, a young woman with a loving, supportive husband (most of the time), a full time job (which she dislikes) and a crazy, insane idea (according to her mother) to cook and blog about her experiences.
Her goal was to cook the 524 recipes from Julia Child’s cook book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” over the next 365 days and blog about it each and every day. It sounded impossible and her biggest detractor was her mom who couldn’t help but remind her that she never finished anything she started. Read the rest of this entry

I WON ! My blog was chosen to be critiqued and WWN published the results.
Here’s what I learned in a nutshell from Jason Better as he scrolled around my blog (what will be my nerve centre).
#1 Tip: The header on my blog should be considered or looked at as “Boardwalk”. The most valuable piece of real estate on my blog. I had chosen a casual, pretty theme with a coffee cup, keyboard and mouse hoping to convey the idea of “working from home” and all the benefits of same. Wrong choice ! I’ve since changed it (forgot to take a screen shot of it before I did) and I still want to incorporate Jason’s idea of customizing and personalizing my header.
